1lb to 2lb Cooking Apples
  1lb Raisins
  1lb Soft Brown Sugar
  1lb Currants
  1lb Sultanas
  4oz Candid Peel
  1 Lemon juice and rind
  0.5 tsp Nutmeg
  2 oz Ground Almonds
  3 tbs Brandy


Mix all ingredients together and mince. Store in covered jam jars or freeze.   The higher the apple content the smoother the mixture.  I tend to like a fruity more open mix so I reduce the apple content to 1 lb but my mother when fruit was quite scarce and apples easy to come by used to use a high apple content.  I have to admit that if using in pies or tarts a higher apple content works better.
