Education in Farnsfield has gone through many changes over the years but now primary education is concentrated in Farnsfield's only school which was brought about by the merger of the Farnsfield Church of England School on Main Street and the Walter D'Ayncout School on Branston Avenue.  A brand new school was built on the D'Ayncout site and is now the St Michael's Church of England Primary SchoolThere is also a Junior Department at the Minster Church of England School.

Secondary state Education is provided by the Minster Church of England School at Southwell and the Joseph Whitaker School in Rainworth.  Meanwhile the main Roman Catholic Secondary School is the All Saints Catholic School in Mansfield.

There are several private school in the area.  At Primary or Preparatory level the following schools welcome children from Farnsfield: Wellow House School, Salterford House, Hazel Hurst School.  

For Secondary Education Hollygirt School (boys and girls), Nottingham Girls High School (girls only) and Nottingham High School (boys only but soon to admit girls) .  All have Junior Departments.

Excellent Pre-School and Nursery services are available at The White Post Day Nursery and more locally in the Farnsfield Pre-School Playgroup.  The White Post Day Nursery is now known as the Alphbet House Day Nursery and is part of a group which also has nurseries in Beeston, Lowdham and West Bridgford.
